Alta Sueños combines the spirit of home winemaking with access to the minds and facilities of accomplished producers.
What began as a desire to learn a little more about a passion has evolved to become a small lot, low intervention winemaking practice and an ongoing exploration of the far corners of California wine.
Along the way, the project has created amazing opportunities. It’s connected me with some of the kindest and most interesting people I’ve ever known. I’ve heard little-known stories, explored off-the-beaten-track terroir, deepened my appreciation for nature, and learned that the histories of California and of its wine are one and the same.
Alta Sueños means “fly dreams,” an homage to West Coast hip hop as well as a nod to the vinters of generations past. For me, the dream is simple: Keep on exploring, work in a style that honors the wines and producers who inspire me, and continue striving to create something worth enjoying with good food, good music, and in good company.
I make wine because I love wine. There’s no other reason to go to the trouble.

A field blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc from an organic site high on the AVA's western slope. A vineyard in a forest in the sky.

Besio Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains
Co-fermented Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Refosco, Pinot Noir and Syrah from an absolute unicorn of a vineyard on the San Francisco Peninsula. What we’re up to

You may have noticed that this website has nothing for sale. That’s on purpose. Alta Sueños produces wines in extremely small quantities, and intends them for casual get-togethers among family and close friends. For now, the only way to try these wines is to join the email list, then reach out when new vintages become available. Trust me, this isn’t a snobby allocation system or attempt to create an illusion of scarcity. Really, it’s one of the best things about this project – an opportunity to connect and get to know each and every person who takes an interest in the wine. Truly, I appreciate you.
