Nearly every morning, Corinne Cobabe spends time with her works in collage. With a palette of art books, vintage magazines, found objects and assorted ephemera spread across her workspace, scissors and glue sticks become the tools of free association—form and color, white space and. composition. Often, she refers to this daily practice as “play,” but in truth it is a form of meditation: an opportunity for deep focus that seems to make the rest of the world disappear. Ordinarily, Corinne doesn’t accept commissions for fine art work, but for her partner’s passion project, she was willing to make an exception. I provided much of the source photography—images taken on trips through wine country as well as within “the City of Vines.” What appears on this page is a sketchbook of sorts; showing the progression which led to the final art on the inaugral Alta Sueños label.
