Most of California’s coastal mountain ranges run parallel to the Pacific, but thanks to tectonics and time, the Sta. Rita Hills are turned sideways, making wide channels that allow ocean fog to race miles inland.

The shapes and colors of this piece remind us of those long canyon skies, tinted blue-grey by the ocean mists that traverse them each morning.
