Current Wines / Summer, 2026
Gist Ranch, Santa Cruz Mountains
70% Semillon, 30% Sauvignon Blanc
A wine from a vineyard in a forest in the sky. Foot-treaded rather than mechanically pressed, this co-fermented white blend hits like a lemon verbena laser beam, then unfolds into stone fruit and honey. Pacific fog makes the perfect wine for a sunny day.

Besio Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains
Co-fermented Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Refosco, Pinot Noir & Syrah
Like its predecessor, this red wine is a co-fermented blend from a 45-year-old, own-rooted, utterly unique backyard vineyard. Unlike the ‘23, the Pinot Noir was macerated in whole, unbroken clusters, and the wine spent 18 months in neutral French oak barrels. The result is worth the wait.

Besio Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains
A collector’s bottling of our very first wine
These bottles were produced without the standard labels and have been transformed into original, handmade, one-of-a-kind artworks by Corinne Cobabe Rushing. This limited edition case is literally the first twelve bottles of wine I ever made, and it’s the last of that inaugural 2023 vintage that will be sold.

2023 “Artist Series”
A special limited edition – only 7 bottles left! Why sell wine this way?
Alta Sueños wines are made from fruit grown to organic standards on unique California vineyard sites and fermented with minimal intervention on their own native yeasts.
In other words, I’m making the kind of wines I like to drink: small-lot, site-specific, and priced to be opened without hesitation when a party’s going plenty strong already, or at a random Tuesday dinner with friends.
Alta Sueños doesn’t currently use online point-of-sale systems. Instead, the wines are mainly available via our mailing list. This is because there simply isn’t much of this wine to go around—but it’s also because I like getting to know the people who drink it personally. So if you’re reading this web page, thanks for signing up.
Cheers, Mike

Updated August 10
Currently we are sending wines within California and other coastal addresses in lightly insulated shippers.
For now, friends in the Midwest can purchase 12-bottle shipments only. The cases contain the standard insulation and a cold pack; shipments are dropped to UPS Mondays or Tuesdays only to avoid weekend warehouse holds. Expedited shipping and sophisticated insulation can be arranged for an additional cost. Just ask when you email.
Friends on the East Coast and in Texas, Arizona and other points south don’t need to miss out on these summer releases. Everyone is encouraged to pre-order for shipment this fall. Your wine will be held at cellar temperature until regular shipping resumes.
